Accessibility Statement
Accessibility of this platform
A platform about accessibility has to be accessible itself. UAEU Access targets the WCAG 2.2 AA principles, and accessibility is treated as a requirement rather than a finishing touch.
What we implement
- Semantic HTML with one main landmark and a logical heading structure on every page.
- Full keyboard operation, a skip link, and a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- Text and interface contrast targeted at WCAG 2.2 AA, verified against the light theme tokens.
- Status is never communicated by colour alone — every state carries an icon and a text label.
- Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels on primary controls.
- Form fields with associated labels, described errors, and an error summary that receives focus.
- Reduced-motion support: animation and transitions are effectively disabled when requested.
- Right-to-left ready layout so an Arabic interface can be added without restructuring pages.
Known limitations
- The Arabic interface has not been translated yet; Arabic building names are shown where known.
- The campus map is a conceptual, non-geographic prototype and has no route guidance.
- Uploaded report photos are stored privately and reviewed manually; alternative text is not yet collected.
- The platform has not yet been tested with UAEU Students of Determination — this is the next step.
Feedback
Accessibility feedback about the platform itself is as valuable as a barrier report. Until a dedicated channel exists, feedback can be submitted through the barrier report form by choosing “Other” as the barrier type.
